The Challenge
Portworx® by Pure Storage®, a leader in enterprise storage and data management for Kubernetes environments. The acquisition of Portworx provided a strategic advantage for Pure Storage to offer software solutions that would complement its hardware and data products. Portworx aimed to shift its customer experience from a complex command line UI to an accessible suite of products that could service a larger range of clients.
To address this, Portworx partnered with Propelland to create a unified design system to provide a more cohesive, scalable, and modern digital experience across its digital services.

The Solution
/ DEFINING A VISION FOR TRANSFORMING DIGITAL PRODUCTS
We established a unified information architecture across Portworx’s product suite, creating a modern and intuitive front-end UI for secure and efficient data management. By enhancing interaction patterns and revamping the visual elements—including color, typography, iconography, and illustrations —we positioned the product as a market leader. The refreshed design appeals to startups and enterprise businesses, catering to a new and growing market.
/ DESIGNED AND LAUNCHED IN 6 MONTHS
We collaborated closely with internal teams, sharing the design and development workload, and openly exchanging ideas and feedback. We innovated with new automation frameworks streamling the delivery of design components, making feature launches faster, consistent, and scalable. Centralizing all components into a unified Storybook library, we also prioritized accessibility, ensuring that our digital products are inclusive for all users.
/ ENHANCING PRODUCT TEAM ADOPTION
To maximize the design system’s impact, we guided product teams in adopting and utilizing it to craft customer-facing experiences. Our collaboration emphasized the importance of seeing the design system as an evolving internal product. We provided in-depth training and established processes that enhanced cross-team cooperation. As a result, by the project’s end, all design components and patterns were prepared for seamless adoption and application across all of Portworx’s digital offerings.
