About the role:

As a Design Technology Lead you will work cross functionally with strategists, and designers to ensure that client needs are not only met, but exceeded, leading to long term relationships. Together you will understand the client’s needs, translate them into a compelling vision for the project, determine the best design tools to use, and execute on design deliverable’s. You are able to understand complex systems and how they impact people’s behavior. You have extensive experience utilizing cutting-edge technologies to imagine, build, and test new ideas in the market to generate untold value for businesses and consumers alike.

What you’ll do

  • Work in the realms of design and engineering with the focus of bringing ideas to life for our clients. You will plan projects and manage teams to:
  • Utilize low-code or coded solutions to develop quick prototypes of proposed designs/solutions. 
  • Work with other engineers to build out and code go-to-market solutions for clients. 
  • Build physical prototypes of devices and other electronic touch-points using tools like particle microcontrollers, Arduinos, Raspberry Pis etc with sensors and actuators 
  • Develop the technical feasibility of prospective projects. 
  • Quickly identify scope and approach to RFP and other customer requests. 
  • Identify the ability to quickly produce early prototypes for the relative area of development such as web, mobile, or electronic. 
  • Inform the larger team of potential risks and roadblocks within the solution space.  
  • Lead your team in working with the strategy and design team to rapidly build and iterate on new product experiences.
  • Improve internal process, knowledge, or tooling across the engineering team. 
  • Proactively explore new technologies and processes for rapid prototyping.  
  • Thrive in a fast-paced studio across a variety of consulting work. 
  • Work against demanding project schedules within a multi-disciplinary team of strategists, designers, and engineers. 
  • Assist in proposals and incoming sales opportunities. 
  • Respond quickly to client and project team ad hoc requests. 

Does this sound like you? 

  • Suitable Degree in Mechanical/Electronic/Software Engineering and/or Interaction/Industrial design or any other related field with hands-on experience in designing and building experiences, products, and services. 
  • 5-7 years experience in Engineering/Design technology. 2 or more years at a design consultancy is preferred.
  • An amazing portfolio that reflects expertise in building and prototyping.
  • Design for manufacturing experience 
  • Experience working with no-code platforms like Webflow/Bubble/IFTTT etc 
  • Experience building apps for android and/or iOS 
  • Ability to build complex web-based prototypes using HTML/CSS/Javascript 
  • Expert understanding of creative coding libraries like p5js/Processing/Open frameworks
  • Experience leading teams, managing projects, and interfacing directly with clients.
  • Ability to effectively articulate compelling recommendations and take internal and external stakeholders through a demo. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • The desire to continue learning new skills, improve your craft, and grow as a technology leader within our team.
  • Obsessed with staying ahead of industry by implementing best practices for the Engineering discipline in the studio and sharing with our global team.
  • Motivated by feedback, and by the opportunity to improve in your role, in the work, and in how you work together as a team.
